Gander Community Tennis Association (GCTA)

The GCTA summer season begins in early May and runs until October. We offer many programs for all ages and all levels of players, from the casual player to the more competitive player. Throughout the season we will organize fun tournaments, competitive tournaments, and team tennis tournaments. Your membership also permits you to register for out of town tournaments offered by other tennis clubs. The club has tennis racquets and balls available for use. Please refer to the current season schedule for program times and start/finish dates. A clay court is available for reservation by paid members for an extra fee.

Le Petit Tennis is an entry level tennis program for children turning 4 in the current year to children just finishing kindergarten. Participants are introduced to the game of tennis through story telling and imaginative play. Unique appropriately sized equipment is provided for the program.

Junior Program:
Our Junior Program is for school age children who have just completed grade one or higher. Players are grouped by school grade just completed and from time to time by ability as well. This program runs five days a week, Monday to Friday, at different times each day, and includes both instruction and game play. There is a scholarship program based on attendance and game play results for each level, grade 4 and higher.

High School Program:
The High School Program is an option for current high school students. Players in this program will meet three times a week throughout summer programming. High School aged students may prefer to participate in other programs instead of or in addition to this program. The sessions will include instruction and game play.

Junior Competitive Program:
This program is designed to provide an opportunity for young players with good basic tennis skills to train in a more competitive environment. This program is run only by a highly qualified coach and is scheduled intermittently through the summer when the coach is available. A minimum 10 hours of instruction will be offered. Players must be registered for the Junior Program or the High School Program as well if registering for the Junior Competitive Program.

The GCTA offers a separate learn-to-play program for women. Players in this program will be divided mostly by skill level. There will be two sessions a week through the regular season. Sessions will have a combination of instruction and/or organized game play. HIgh School students may opt to take part in this program.

Our Men's program runs two nights a week throughout the season. Most of the program includes organized doubles and singles play, with specialized instruction offered when high level coaching is available. HIgh school students may opt to take part in the program.
