Gander Community Tennis Association (GCTA)
The GCTA summer season begins in early May and
runs until October. We offer many programs for all ages and all levels of players, from the
casual player to the more competitive player. Throughout the season we will organize fun
tournaments, competitive tournaments, and team tennis tournaments. Your membership
also permits you to register for out of town tournaments offered by other tennis clubs. The
club has tennis racquets and balls available for use. Please refer to the current season
schedule for program times and start/finish dates. A clay court is available for reservation
by paid members for an extra fee.
Le Petit Tennis is an entry level tennis program for children turning 4 in the current year to
children just finishing kindergarten. Participants are introduced to the game of tennis through
story telling and imaginative play. Unique appropriately sized equipment is provided for the
Our Junior Program is for school age children who have just completed grade one or higher.
Players are grouped by school grade just completed and from time to time by ability as well.
This program runs five days a week, Monday to Friday, at different times each day, and includes
both instruction and game play. There is a scholarship program based on attendance and
game play results for each level, grade 4 and higher.
High School Program:
The High School Program is an option for current high school students. Players in this program will meet three times a week
throughout summer programming. High School aged students may prefer to participate in other programs instead of or in
addition to this program. The sessions will include instruction and game play.
Junior Competitive Program:
This program is designed to provide an opportunity for young players with good basic tennis skills to train in a more competitive
environment. This program is run only by a highly qualified coach and is scheduled intermittently through the summer when the
coach is available. A minimum 10 hours of instruction will be offered. Players must be registered for the Junior Program or the
High School Program as well if registering for the Junior Competitive Program.
The GCTA offers a separate learn-to-play program for women. Players in this program will be divided mostly by skill level.
There will be two sessions a week through the regular season. Sessions will have a combination of instruction and/or
organized game play. HIgh School students may opt to take part in this program.
Our Men's program runs two nights a week throughout the season. Most of the program includes organized doubles and
singles play, with specialized instruction offered when high level coaching is available. HIgh school students may opt to take
part in the program.
